Located on the north bank of the Dordogne, and cradled by the river, Bergerac was once a stopover town for travelers and merchants. It is now classified as a city of art and history with a city center not lacking in charm (half-timbered houses, small streets, Renaissance-style architecture, etc.). Bergerac is also known for its flagship character, Cyrano de Bergerac, whose statue can be found everywhere in the city, and finally for its wines.
Overlooking the Dropt valley, in the heart of Lot-et-Garonne, the Château de Duras has gone through the history of France. An atypical monument, it mixes the Middle Ages, the 17th century and the Revolution. Since its acquisition by the town hall of Duras in 1969, the castle has lived to the rhythm of restoration work.
Visitors can explore History and Architecture through the 30 restored rooms of this site classified as a Historic Monument and discover the secret passage, the ghost room, the room of the model.
